Last Saturday (Oct 1) was the 2022 Oklahoma Blitz Championship in Chandler Oklahoma. It was put on by the Oklahoma Chess Association. Ryan Amburgy (Recent Jenks Graduate and previous member of our club) won 1st place in the Open section (ELO 1700+). I played in the Reserve section (ELO 1000-1700) and had a lot of fun playing but did not place. My son Gabriel won 1st place in the Booster section (Under 1000). He is shown below receiving a cash prize for his performance from Charles Unruh – Treasurer of the US Chess Organization.
Gabe’s rating is now above 1000 so he will play in my section next time which will be much harder. We also had one of our students in the Booster section as well.
